Attorney Kevin Edwards is of counsel for Freese & Goss, PLLC. Mr. Edwards was born and raised in Houston, Texas.  Mr. Edwards attended The University of Texas at Austin on a swimming scholarship and was a member of the 1995-1996 National Championship Swimming & Diving Team.  After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Government and a Minor in Business, Mr. Edwards returned to Houston to work for a prominent world-wide intellectual property litigation firm.  Deciding to pursue a career as an attorney, Mr. Edwards attended Texas Tech University School of Law, where he obtained a Juris Doctorate, was a member of the Texas Tech Law Review, and served as the 3L Class President.  During his time in law school, Mr. Edwards also worked for a prominent personal injury attorney in Lubbock, Texas where he gained invaluable courtroom and trial experience in matters involving car accidents and medical malpractice.

 

Experience

 

In September of 2003, Mr. Edwards began his legal career in Dallas, Texas where he joined a civil litigation law firm defending corporations, insurance companies, employers, trucking companies, and numerous businesses and individuals throughout the State of Texas.  After five years on the defense side of the docket, Mr. Edwards turned his focus and his practice to helping those who have been injured or harmed by others.  Over the past 8 years, Mr. Edwards has represented thousands of victims in medical device and pharmaceutical mass tort litigations, including Transvaginal Mesh, IVC Filters, Actos, Pradaxa, Xarelto, Paxil, Depakote, and Topamax.

 

He also represents U.S. Military Veterans for injuries sustained by the use of defective military earplugs manufactured and sold to the military by 3M. Mr. Edwards is also representing the victims of the California Camp Fire, whether it be for personal injury, property damage, or business losses.

 

Legal Awards & Distinctions

 

Mr. Edwards has achieved many distinctions from his colleagues.  From 2012 until 2017, he was designated a “Rising Star” by SuperLawyers®, which is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.  From 2014 until 2017, he was designated “Top 40 Under 40” by the National Trial Lawyers Association, a professional organization composed of the premier trial lawyers from across the country who exemplify superior qualifications as civil plaintiff trial lawyers.  Since 2018, each year he has received the distinction of “SuperLawyer” from SuperLawyers®, a distinction reserved for only about 5% of lawyers. From 2017-2019, Mr. Edwards has been recognized by D Magazine’s “Best Lawyers in Dallas” in the area of mass tort litigation.
